Frequently Asked Questions

What do nutrition consultants do?

Nutritionists give advice about food and nutrition, as well as habits or lifestyle practices to help people be well. Nutrition consultants do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Instead, they question and investigate nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, or imbalances, then educate, guide, and motivate individuals on how to restore wellness. Nutritionists aim to restore a person’s health as a whole, which often includes more than just food. It also includes movement or exercise, stress relief, proper rest, emotional well being, relationships, mind-body connection.

Who should consider seeing a nutrition consultant?

Anyone interested in using food and lifestyle to become their best self could benefit from seeing a nutrition consultant. This could include individuals who want to lose weight, have more energy, reduce and eliminate cravings, experience mental clarity, optimise meal choices, learn how to plan and create balanced meals. This could also include anyone who has been diagnosed with a condition by their doctor and would like to use nutrition as a means of support (i.e. irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, gluten sensitivity, etc.).

Do I need to do lab test before doing a nutrition session?

Having your labs done annually is always a great idea. Luckily, you don’t need to have them to follow the nutrition programme. If symptoms are severe and depending on an individual’s needs, I may recommend blood, urine and hormone tests which assist in identifying inflammation, mineral and vitamin deficiencies.

What to expect from working together?

You will be supported in every step of the way while you make sustainable diet and lifestyle changes. I’ll guide you through your personalized program at a pace that is comfortable for you. I’ll make sure you stay on track with regular meetings and accountability check-ins along the way. By the end of the program, most clients achieve (and often exceed!) the health goals they set for themselves in our first session!

How soon can I expect to see results?

This depends on several factors, including what your specific goal is, commitment and adherence level, and your own bioindividuality. We are all unique and our bodies will react differently. Many long term changes and encouraging results can be experienced with a minimum of 3-4 months.

What happens when my program finishes?

Most clients have developed the confidence and tools to maintain the healthy habits they created while working together. I am always available for tune up sessions whenever you need it.

Do I have to be vegan to be healthy?

Absolutely not. Bioindividuality is central to my practice. While some people thrive on 100% plant-based foods, others need more animal-based protein and fats. Furthermore, what works for someone at one point in time may not be optimal for his or her entire life. Different food choices work well for different people.

What education do you have?

I hold Master level Nutritionist certification from AFPA - American Fitness Professionals Association with specifications in Weight Management, Sports Nutrition and Holistic Nutrition.
